Here are snaps from the 16-mile (round trip) bicycle ride I took this morning. The ride was somewhat hilly, and I stopped several times along the way to admire the views. All in all, it took me 3 hours, in 85 degree heat, with an 11 mph wind in my face on the last leg back. Good ride, except that I contracted heat stroke. My heart rate was up to 96, as I discovered after I got back. My face was red too, and I took my keto test, and discovered I was in the purple range. My stomach felt a bit woozy, and I had a headache. Not knowing if I was having some kind of ketoacidosis attack, I immediately ate 2 hard boiled eggs with a small piece of feta cheese. Is feta cheese fattening? Then I had a bowl of raisin bran with skim milk. So sue me. I’m not going to risk some kind of pre diabetic stroke. Can’t wait for my tests next week to see what’s up with my body. Only when I know what’s what can I actually plan my workouts and meal plans without risking Savasana IRL. In the meantime, my workouts are going to all be indoors till further notice. I have heard of several in shape guys my age checking out permanently around here from exertion in the Florida summer heat. It’s not worth stressing your body out to the max to lose weight if you are not going to be around to reap the benefits.
