CORRECTION:
WE ARE GETTING GENEVA ON FEB 2nd, NOT THIS COMING WEEKEND. THIS GIVE US MORE NEEDED TO FINISH UP PREPARING THE HOUSE FOR HERE ARRIVAL.
Only 6 days till Geneva, our German Sheppie puppie, comes home!
Woke up at 5am, today, and decided I will leave at daybreak to go up to the Walmart super center in Port St Lucie, FL, to buy a Summer Waves 59″ Plastic Kiddie Wading Pool.
It’ll probably be 9am or so by the time I return.
I am taking some rope with me, in order to secure the pool to the rack on my Escape. The pool is made of a hard plastic shell. Problem with the foldable vinyl ones is getting punctured by Geneva’s nails, or having her rip it to shreds due to her teething.
I hope the wind will die down today — it’s only 5 mph right now, so after the pool episode, I should be able to make some more progress on cleaning the mold beams that hold up the screens that enclose our patio. It’s hot and humid in FLA, in case you did not know: mold is always a problem that has to be dealt with on a regular basis.
Yesterday was quite windy, so I didn’t do any scaffolding work, but I did get the outside lights (and the doorbell) fixed so that our side yard is illuminated when we walk Geneva at night.
I might take a break mid day — as I have decided on principle not to watch the brain-damaging NFL playoffs — and go to Lowe’s to see if I can find some kind of wire-framed portable fencing to protect the base panels of our porch screens.
I certainly don’t want Geneva to go hurling though them if she sees some critter walking by in our back yard in front of the lake where mostly invisible gators lurk.
I am seriously looking forward to Geneva’s arrival, and going for walks and training exercises with our little sheppie, or reclining on some chaise longue (which I also have to buy) in the perfect South Florida winter weather and reading a book or doing nothing at all, while she splashes about in the pool and plays with her various squeaky toys.
Truly the life of Riley.
ps they ended up not actually having it Walmart, even though their web site said they had it. Turns out I can get one (slightly smaller) by Thursday or so from Ace Hardware. Yippee!
