Despite all the bad-mouthing of South Florida that I do on this blog, I am very lucky to live here.
Today I decided to go to the beach for some exercise, a step up in my weight loss program.
This guy caught a pompano as I arrived on the beach.
Instead of it being some huge ordeal to get there and park, as it is in many parts of Europe during the season, it was just a 15 minute easy drive away to a protected Wildlife Refuge on a nearby barrier island, then a lovely stroll on a mostly empty, very long and beautiful sandy shoreline, with no unpleasant climbs up and down steep hills.
Hats off to the Sunshine State on this one.
